GET INVOLVED

FAMILIES

An extended family holding signs

Families are encouraged to join together all around the world on (or close to) Feb 15th, and have some fun!! Gather your extended family and friends and help to raise awareness about Angelman syndrome in your local  community/ city/state. Send some brochures to your child's school, GP and local hospital; call up some fellow Angelman families and enjoy a picnic together; run a fundraiser in your community and get an article in your local papers; have a T-shirt or a tote bag or a bandana printed using the IAD logo, etc....You can also support any nationally coordinated events organised by your country's Angelman Syndrome organisation - find their contact details here.

Angelman Syndrome ORGANISATIONS

A newspaper awareness article

National Angelman Syndrome organisations in countries all around the world are encouraged to use this day to highlight your primary cause - whether it is to raise nation-wide awareness, advocate for better services for families, or to fundraise for educational resources and/or AS research.  National organisations can  raise awareness in your country by coordinating nation-wide events and running awareness campaigns through the media. You can involve families, extended families and friends by running competitions with prizes - or simply encourage and support nation-wide family gatherings. This does not have to be a large event every year, and there is no pressure to compete with other countries or organisations. We are all in this together.
